Best Present Ever

After the rough couple of months Ryan had with her mom, Madeline and I wanted to do something special for her…and to get her out of her crazy-dangerous auto-rickshaw. Since office work didn't seem to be something she was naturally gifted at, Ryan's been talking about starting her own food truck, catering to people coming out of shows and other events where they might be partaking in the herb and feeling hungry. 

"Kushnacks! Get it?"

Yeah, we get it. Neither Madeline or I had any confidence that Ryan would come up with something we would want to eat, no matter how inebriated we were. Early Ryan concepts: sour patch kid style sugar coated beef jerky; peanut butter and miracle whip petite sandwiches with jalapeños; fried chicken strips with maple syrup dipping sauce; and chocolate covered guajillo chiles with a tahini-Greek yogurt dipping sauce. 

Then we realized Ryan thought you couldn't have a food truck that sold anything anybody else sold, ever.

"Um, Ryan, you know that McDonalds couldn't sue Burger King for selling burgers, right?"

"Oh! Wow. Right. I was pretty stoned when I thought about this."

"What do you eat when you've got the munchies?"

"Brownies. No, not pot brownies. Cake mix brownies with jalapeño chocolate frosting. Totally the best."

Then she figured out how to make some of the best brownies ever—with jalapeño frosting. So we go her this truck, with good brakes and excellent seat belts, even if we couldn't retrofit airbags for maximal side-crash protection. 

It's possible she liked it.
